The Super Powers Collection was a line of action figures created by Kenner Products introduced in 1984. They were based on DC Comics superheroes and supervillains. The first series consisted of 12 figures (Aquaman, Batman, Brainiac, The Flash, Green Lantern, Hawkman, The Joker, Lex Luthor, The Penguin, Robin, Superman, and Wonder Woman), three vehicles, and 1 playset. The Hall of Justice served as our heroes' base of operations. Vehicles like the Supermobile and Batmobile aided the Super Powers team in their adventures against the bad guys.
The first wave was well received, which prompted Kenner to release a second 10 figure series (Darkseid, Desaad, Doctor Fate, Firestorm, Green Arrow, Kalibak, Mantis, Martian Manhunter, Parademon, Red Tornado, and Steppenwolf).
In all, three series of figures and accessories were released (1984, 1985, and 1986), but after three years of production the line collapsed. Coincidentally, Kenner's Star Wars line stopped shipping to stores the same year the Super Powers line ended.
After 10 years of chronicling the history of the Super Powers Collection, in 2003 toy historian Jason Geyer revealed the never-before-seen designs for the unmade Series Four, Five, and Six, along with vehicles, playsets and a deluxe 'Power Plus' figure line on his website actionfiguresinsider.com. The most famous of these is the Man-Bat figure, of which an actual prototype was created.
