AUTOart is a Hong Kong-based diecast model car line of the company Gateway Global Ltd., which is based in Costa Mesa, California, USA. Other lines of diecast vehicles made by Gateway are Gate and UT Models, originally a German company with diecast cars made in China. AUTOart makes diecast model cars, slot racing cars and motorcycles.
AUTOart was established in 1998 and manufactures scale model cars and lifestyle items for distribution worldwide.
The company was created from UT Models, the latter of which is now out of business. AUTOart is preferred by many diecast model collectors who favor quality over cost when compared to many other model car manufacturers, most of which are a bit lower in price as well as quality. In the United States, their cars, in price and quality, generally fall between Exoto and CMC (at the high end), and Maisto and Bburago (at the low end).
The British company Gateway is producing these cars in China and the first models in 1:18th scale were made in 1999, later diecast models in 1:12th, 1:43rd and 1:64th scale, as well as slotcars and RC cars in 1:24th and 1:32nd scale, were also introduced. The range mainly consists of current and classic sports cars, offroad vehicles and rallye cars.
Furthermore, Autoart has released models of Australian cars especially made for the Australian market. Besides the Autoart models, Gateway originally also produced a range of cheaper models which was marketed under the name of Gate.
